Forging Global Alliances to Transform Agriculture and Food Security

We are honoured to announce that Fusion Labs has launched a series of strategic international partnerships in Australia, significantly strengthening our capacity to deliver world-class solutions for Zambia’s agriculture sector and beyond. This initiative marks the official establishment of the Fusion Labs Global Network – a growing collective of distinguished academics and industry experts whose collaboration will help accelerate innovation and drive transformative progress in agriculture.

During our recent visit to Western Australia, we held high-level discussions and formalised collaboration agreements with the State Agricultural Biotechnology Centre and the Centre for Crop & Food Innovation, which are both part of the Food Futures Institute. Together, these institutes represent some of the world’s most advanced capabilities in agricultural biotechnology, plant breeding, and food systems science.

A major highlight of the visit was a meeting with Professor Rajeev Varshney, Director of both centres. Professor Varshney is a globally renowned and multi-award-winning agricultural scientist, whose accolades include Fellow of the Royal Society of London, elected Member of the Australian Academy of Science, and International Chair for Agriculture & Food Security. His endorsement signals an extraordinary milestone for Fusion Labs – embedding us in a global network dedicated to practical, scalable, and internationally relevant agricultural innovation.

These international collaborations position Fusion Labs not only as Zambia’s premier analytical laboratory, but also as an intellectual powerhouse where cutting-edge research translates into tangible results. Our expanded research and development capacity will enable us to develop tailored solutions for Zambia’s agriculture – from soil health and crop productivity to seed nutrition – informed by global expertise and collaborative research across continents.

We look forward to working closely with our Australian colleagues, and to welcoming more world-class thinkers and practitioners into the Fusion Labs Global Network – a platform dedicated to turning data and discovery into food security, sustainable farming, and measurable development impact.
